A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been officially signed between the Italian Consul in Adelaide and the Department for Education SA, reinforcing our shared commitment to promoting the Italian language in South Australian schools. This important agreement, supported by the Italian government and facilitated through the Ente Gestore Program (Language Assistance Program) by SAIA, marks a new chapter in cultural and linguistic exchange.

The South Australian Italian Association (SAIA) is pleased to assist in the placing of Italian language teachers in selected SA schools for up to 9 months to support and enrich Italian language programs through the provision of contemporary linguistic and cultural support.
Language teachers are native speakers of the Italian language and proficient in English and support qualified language teachers.
Language teachers can also be asked by SAIA to participate in resource development, student language immersion workshops and teacher professional learning.
SAIA manages the “Progetto di sostegno alla lingua italiana nelle scuole”, including recruitment of teachers, school application processes, payment of the teachers’ salary and professional learning support during their placement.
We are currently providing assistance to teachers in the following schools:
• Saint Aloysious College
• Nazareth College
• Adelaide High School
• Charles Campbell College
• Roma Mitchell Secondary College
• Norwood International High School
