The purpose of the excursion was to:

• immerse students in Italian culture through food, gardening, and sustainability.
• expand students’ Italian vocabulary related to plants, food, and cooking.
• provide a hands-on learning experience in an authentic garden setting.
• encourage curiosity about traditional Italian ingredients and how they are grown.

Learning Outcomes:

Students worked on developing their Italian vocabulary related to plants, herbs, vegetables, and food and deepen their understanding of Italian food culture and traditional ingredients; they connected classroom language learning with real-world experiences in an edible garden setting. Students collaborated with peers while participating in practical outdoor learning activities and develop an appreciation of sustainable gardening and seasonal produce.
