Experiences such as this demonstrate the importance of connecting our students with the wider Italian-Australian community and providing opportunities for them to learn Italian in real-world settings.

The purpose of the excursion was to: immerse students in Italian culture through food, gardening, and sustainability, expand students’ Italian vocabulary related to plants, food, and cooking, provide a hands-on learning experience in an authentic garden setting, encourage curiosity about traditional Italian ingredients and how they are grown.
